The Good News about Ho’oponopono is:
It is easy
It is understandable
I am yet to find a critic amongst the people who have used it
It is about putting yourself first and benefiting everyone
No matter where you are or what you are doing you can be doing it. You do not have to be a meditative state, I usually do lots of it on the tube in the rush hour.
There is such a feeling of freedom which comes with it.
It belongs to you and anyone who wants it.
As you start to read the following I want you to do something for your own benefit. Start saying to yourself:
I Love You, I’m sorry, Please forgive me, thank you.
If you are agreeable to this then you are almost there (honest).
I first came across Ho’oponopono when I received a newsletter from a friend which directed me to a link relating to a healer who had healed a whole ward of violent mentally ill patients without seeing them. That caught my attention.
However the wonderful thing about Ho’oponopono is that it’s first step into your life is about healing yourself.
Your Thoughts Are Your Reality
There has been a spate of self-help ‘gurus’ who have brought to the public forum the idea that your thoughts are your reality. The main selling point of this is that if you can change your thoughts to those of prosperity, health, abundance then your life will change towards these attributes. Many thousands of books have been sold and a film was produced called ‘The Secret’. These awakened a lot of people to the fact that we have an inner power to ‘control’ our own lives and destiny. It was pointed out that if we can rid ourselves of the ‘victim mentality’ or the ‘lack mentality’ then we can turn our lives around. Otherwise known as the ‘Law Of Attraction’
There are many people out there who have succeeded with the messages delivered by these books etc. However there were still a whole group of people who still, even after following the instructions, did not seem to be ‘rolling in it’! So what was missing.
With all the techniques to change our minds (ie manisfestation visualisations, living the dream, hypnotherapy, NLP, TFT etc etc) still certain people were at a sticking point and could not see any visible changes and because I was one of these people I was still looking.

Haleakala Hew Len
The article about the doctor who had healed without being present with the patients in the mental ward it caught my eye and I went a’surfing.
Dr Haleakal Hew Len was a physician from Hawaii and there was documented evidence of his work with the hospital. He was using a method called Self I-denity Ho’oponopono, a modernised version of an ancient form of healing from Hawaii.
'We are the sum total of our experiences, which is to say that we are burdened by our pasts. When we experience stress or fear in our lives, if we would look carefully, we would find that the cause is actually a memory. It is the emotions which are tied to these memories which affect us now. The subconscious associates an action or person in the present with something that happened in the past. When this occurs, emotions are activated and stress is produced.'

It revolved around healing, cleaning, cleansing oneself. It involves taking 100% responsibility for everything that you have attracted into your life. It is about how to go back to basics and ask the Source to erase from your memory or belief systems anything which has created an unwanted reality. If we tried to do this consciously it would be too much of a task. We may bring to our conscious mind incidences in our lives which lead us astray but what about the things which were stored out of sight of our conscious mind and is there enough hours in the day to go through them all considering the rate that the sub-conscious mind is storing/programming them. The belief goes as far to say that some of our memories have come through our DNA, from ancestors and from past lives.

So by repeating these four phases we can begin to clean our subconscious mind, erase memories which repeat themselves over and over, clear outmoded belief systems which have blocked our progress. Just think of how you have reacted to something in the past and realise how that reaction was made up, it might have emerged in a split second but it came from somewhere – where? – Our memories,programmes and beliefs that’s where.
After a while you begin to notice more what you are thinking, how your brain is working, where thoughts are actually coming from. So whenever a memory comes up which we can see has caused us upset or a blockage we repeat again the four phases and let go.
So once this has been cleared and it is always a work in progress when you consider your sub-conscious mind has taken in millions of bytes of information per second.

We are saying ‘Please forgive us for what is in my mind which is causing this situation’. Even when things seem to be going well, continue with the phases.
And for me it was only a short time until I could feel a difference. My mind was emptying and if it decided to become busy again with emotional stuff I was able to distract myself by saying the phases over and over like a mantra. I began to recognise memories which had come up to hamper (I Love You, I’m sorry, Please forgive me, thank you.) I could feel reactions which caused negative emotions (I Love You, I’m sorry, Please forgive me, thank you).
So, that is about you but the very quick thing to follow is that you can begin to clean the world around you, thereby healing situations and people who are in your life or have come into your consciousness and it is still as simple as repeating the phases;

You are taking 100% responsibility for everything that you have attracted into your life, so if someone comes to you with a problem, maybe a friend or a client, then you start to clean;

Then just watch.
Where Does It Lead Us
It takes us back to our true selves. Our being. It takes us back to inspiration rather than intellect. Rather than being bombarded with attitudes, memories, beliefs we can start again to listen to our inspirational side. And that inspiration is coming from our super-conscious, the Divine.
A story that I liked was that Adam & Eve lived in the Garden of Eden, a utopia, the ultimate paradise, and it was so because they were in direct receiving of God’s inspiration. However when Adam ate the apple from the forbidden tree, God gave him intellect which through him into a world where he was to use his intellect to solve things. And where has that got the world we live in today??
How many times in our lives have we said the words ‘God knows’ – well the news here is that yes he does and who are we to think that we know better and we can handle all this ourselves.

I came to a wonderful place, just for a short time, I was very relaxed and I read a phase which said that the first principal of enlightenment is ‘I don’t know’. I cleared my mind of everything that was intellect (memory, learnings etc) and I sat for a moment in a space which I can only describe as inner peace. It was heavenly. And then thoughts came to me about my life which were distinctively different, definitely inspired. It was beautiful. And being the type of person I am today I wanted to share it with everyone.
This all came from just reading websites and books on the subject. There is only one establishment which offers training and that is the original source which is based in Hawaii and the USA. But in the meantime we can all start to clean and to feel the difference it makes.
