UGALINK
"Doing well by Doing good"
Ugalink Purpose
This is a social enterprise with primarily social objectives whose surpluses are principally reinvested for the benefit of the Ugandan community, rather than being driven by the need to maximise profit for shareholders and owners.
Our strategy “By using business solutions to achieve public good”, We believe that social enterprises have a distinct and valuable role to play in helping create a strong, sustainable and socially inclusive economy.
Our Vision is to become a Strong, sustainable social enterprise agency leading positive social change and eliminating poverty from Ugandan Communities.
Our Aim is to lead and initiate development of Social Enterprise in the Ugandan community by building 'social capital' and 'social profit' to improve the quality of life in one of the most 'difficult' and 'excluded' peoples and by creating a network with co-operatives, development trusts, community enterprises, housing associations, social firms, and leisure trusts.
Our Mission is to establish a vast array of enterprises controlling huge amounts of financial resources doing philanthropic projects filling the needs of their Communities.
Our goal is to involve over 200 mentors, assist 1,000 businesses, and create and sustain at least 2,200 jobs for the poor in Ugandan communities.
Our work reaches the parts of society other policy initiatives do not touch.
We believe that to bring about real transformation the spiritual, economic, social and political barriers that bind people in poverty have to be confronted. We are committed to addressing each of these areas in order to bring about real, sustainable and lasting change.
As a Ugandan social enterprise agency therefore, we will play an important role in helping deliver on many of the Government's key policy objectives by:
helping to drive up productivity and competitiveness;
contributing to socially inclusive wealth creation;
enabling individuals and communities to work towards regenerating their local neighbourhoods;
showing new ways to deliver public services; and
helping to develop an inclusive society and active citizenship.
As a Social enterprise we will trade in the market with a social purpose. We will use business tools and techniques to achieve social aims.
We are thus not defined by a legal status but rather by our nature: our social aims and outcomes, the basis on which our social mission is embedded in our structure and governance, and the way we use the profits generated through the trading activities.
We operate in the social, not-for-profit sector building 'something from nothing' and seeking new and innovative solutions to social problems.
