This DVD is an introduction to Philosophy for Children through the eyes of children in ten schools in Swansea and Cardiff. What do the children say about philosophy?
Philosophy for Children starts with children’s questions. In the DVD we find out what questions the children want to ask. We also hear the voices of head teachers and teachers who have introduced philosophy into their classrooms. They tell us about the impact philosophy has had on them and their children.
We hear the voice of advisory teacher for SEBD, Lesley Williams, who believes philosophy for children can revolutionise the quality of relationships in schools and classrooms, the deputy head, Alison Giffard, who believes children’s results on standardised tests have been raised because of philosophy, the politician who wants philosophy to be embedded in every subject of the school curriculum, and the teachers who show how their practice has been transformed.
