St Bartholomew's Church
Crèche Rules | Facilicities and Provisions for Children & Young People @ St Bartholomew's Church:

We welcome you to our Creche. In order to maintain a safe and happy environment for your child(ren) we ask you to observe the following rules:-

The Crèche is only for babies and toddlers under supervision of their parent(s) or accompanied guardian(s). Children of 11-16 years should not play in the Crèche but are very welcome to join us in the Sunday Club, or if they prefer, still in with main Congregation.

With the exception of babies with bottles, please do not bring food, (including sweets), or drink into the Crèche.

Please do not bring your own toys from home as this can cause confusion and upset for other children, and potentially risks damage or loss. A range of toys for different age groups are provided by us.

Please do not bring your child(ren) to the Crèche if s/he has been vomiting, has diarrhoea, or has an infectious/contagious disease/virus.

Unfortunately the Crèche are is very small and thus in the interests of space please collapse buggies and place them under the Crèche alter, or, (if your pushchair is non-collapsible), leave it in the church foyer. For similar reasons you are asked please for only one parent/carer per family to remain and sit with their child(ren) at a time.

Children making noise: This is only natural - please do not feel uncomfortable about this and feel you have to leave. However, excessive noise carries into the Church and can destruct from the service so please encourage your child(ren) to keep their voices low. If you feel embarrassed if your child(ren) or baby is crying, please feel free to take them out of the service until they are feeling happier.

Please assist by putting the toys and other items brought out in their receptacles after the service. Try to put puzzles back together and toys in their respective boxes ready for the following week.

The Chapel is used for mid-week worship so please replace furniture in its’ original position. If you are unsure where something goes, please ask a member of the Clergy or Church Warden(s).

You and your baby or toddler are warmly welcome in the Crèche are for all or part of the service, or you may choose to sit with the main congregation - the choice is yours.

Thank you for taking the time to this. We hope that these few rules will enable the Crèche to run smoothly and for the enjoyment of all! Please do not hesitate to speak to any of the Church Officer(s) should you wish to make any comment or suggestions about the facilities provided.

Facilicities and Provisions for Children & Young People at St Bart's Church:

As the congregation is consistently changing composition it is perhaps helpful to remind people of what is available for children at St.Bart’s.

Sunday Club & Crèche: We have one Sunday Club group, one for 11-16 years which meet during the service, except for ‘All age Worship’ services which are held on the first Sunday of each month, (plus other special occasion services). Parent(s)/Guardian(s)/Carer(s) are welcome to stay with their child(ren) in Sunday Club until s/he feels confident enough to stay on their own. Depending on the child(ren), this may take several weeks, but we do not mind.

Monthly Sunday evening social events for Sunday Club Seniors • 11-16 years are also held – (details from our Youth Worker or Team Vicar).

We also have a Crèche area in the Chapel are for 3’s and under. As we currently do not have helpers for either this age group or below the age group of the St Bart’s Sunday Club, parent(s)/guardian(s) are expected to supervise their own child(ren).

Sunday Club Helpers: In addition to the lead member of the Church, the Sunday Club also has an adult ‘helper’ who is also a member of the congregation who just sits in throughout the group session.

We MUST have a this second adult to abide by the Church of England Guidelines and Diocese of Chelmsford Children Protection Guidelines which the Parish PCC has adopted. Under these guidelines ALL helpers must complete a form registering themselves as a helper. New helpers are also subject to CRB checks. All this data is held and managed under the strictest confidence by the Parish Child Protection Officer and will not be disclosed to unauthorised personnel.

If you would like to be a ‘helper’ please speak to our Youth Worker, Clergy, Child Protection Officer, or Church Warden(s). For those who have agreed to be helpers their is a rota on the Church Notice Board if you forget when it is your turn. If you cannot, for whatever reason, make a date, please arrange with another person on the rota to stand in for you to ensure cover.

Sunday Club Sponsor(s): Sunday Club stationery and ark work materials are paid for by the Church. However, for extra activities or larger purchases we rely on the generosity of the Congregation at St.Bart’s. Would you like to be a sponsor? Sponsors simply agree to pay the equivalent of £1 per month, (or £12 per year), towards the Sunday Club costs to provide for the child(ren). Cheque should be made payable to the “East Ham PCC”) or paid in cash both of which can be treated as “Gift-Aid” [please see below]. For our current sponsors it is hopped that you will continue to do this again and thank you for all your on-going support and kindness which has been valued.

For more information please contact our Youth Worker • John Marshall or Team Vicar via the Parish Office. St Bartholomew’s Church & Centre. 292b Barking Road, East Ham, London. E6 3BA. Telephone: (020) 8470 0011. Fax: (020) 8586 0185 mailto:easthamparish@tiscali.co.uk

What is Gift Aid? The government Gift Aid scheme adds tax relief to your charity donations. If you are a UK taxpayer, we can reclaim tax on all the donations you have made to us for the work of children & young people since 6th April 2000 and on any gifts that you may make to us in the future, whether they are regular or one-off, large or small.

How much is Gift Aid worth? By giving through Gift you ensure that every donation that you make will be worth more to us at St Bart’s directly for the work with children & Young people. For every £1 you give, (as a basic taxpayer), the Government will add 28p from your taxes. If you pay tax at the higher rate of 40% you may well be able to claim further tax relief on donations you make to us.

What do I have to do? There is nothing complicated involved. We simply need you to provide your name and address with your donation(s). Please speak to our Gift-Aid Officer Church Warden(s), Youth Worker, or Clergy for further information. Thank you in anticipation.
