CEDAR

CEDAR
Designed by SSi in conjunction with Thames Valley Police, CEDAR(CrimeEvaluation Data Analysis and Recording) is a Force-wide crime recordingand data analysis system, recently augmented to incorporateInvestigation Management services. CEDAR can be customised to meet theneeds of individual Police Forces.

Offencedetails are entered and cross-referenced with the location, people, companies, vehicles, and property, together with other data such asofficer details. Locations and addresses are held in a user-expandablestreet index gazetteer.

During crime data entry, CEDAR will identify any Repeat Victimisationsand immediately warn the user. This can occur for offence locations, aggrieved persons and companies. Repeat victimisation counts are heldand updated by the system. Extensive information is also held on theModus Operandi, in a form which lends itself readily to matching aknown MO against similar crimes.

QBE (Query By Example) provides rapidaccess to all recorded crime allowing the user to construct complexqueries, often simply by ticking boxes and selecting from option lists.Virtually any combination of crime information can be included in thesearch criteria. The query result is displayed as a list of matchingoffences, with a customisable selection of data shown against eachcrime.

In addition to basic crime data such as dates/times and officer details, CEDAR stores a wide range of linked data:

Details of Property, Drugs, Firearms, Domestic Incidents, Arrests, Card/Cheque fraud.

Person and vehicle data repositories are used for aggrieved, allegedoffenders, stolen vehicles, suspects, witnesses, other vehicle crimes, etc.
