Rosa Tuffney
Britains' Leading Wildlife Pencil Artist
Founder and Principal of the Devon School of Art
From the age of three drawing has been a constant passion. Fifty years on and still the challenge to refine and improve the drawing remains. A trip to Africa and India in 2000 changed the subject matter from portaiture and landscape to the wonders of wildlife.
Depicting animals that were anatomically correct in their natural habitat was not enough to make a good drawing. To imbue the work with the feelings we experience when we are in the presence of these amazing creatures is essential to the drawing. If it does not acheive this then the work does not leave the studio. Thankfully I now have more successes than failures.
Many artworks are auctioned at wildlife trusts' gala events whereupon a substantial donation is made to the wildlife trust. A win-win situation for all involved.
