Teams
The most effective teams are those who understand what their purpose is, what the strengths of their component parts are and what the boundaries of their responsibilities are.
The factors contributing to business performance (trust, conflict, commitment, accountability, results) also apply equally well at this level of an organisation's structure. They are in fact critical to the overall performance of the team. Teams are one of those entities that, at their best, are far greater than the sum of their parts. It's quite common in sporting teams for a team of good 'team players' to beat a team of 'prima donnas' - so what's the difference? The answer is that successful teams are collaborative entities rather than competitive ones - in successful teams, the competition is external. | ![]() |
