The Neatie behind Neatie's Buckwheaties
Just to explain, Neatie, Neatsie and Neats are all nicknames I have accumulated over the years. My actual name is Anita Hatch and I am delighted to welcome you to my website.
A little about me......I am 24 and I have been living a raw food lifestyle since August 2008. I went raw after going to a festival that was organised by the awesome Rob of www.funkyraw.com. The concept of raw food just made complete sense to me. Eating food that was alive and kicking then made you, well, live and kicking!
Living food, living you.
At the festival was a professional raw food kitchen which produced the most amazing food using raw, natural ingredients. I realised that you could make raw versions of classic cooked foods like pizza, chocolate, cakes, and far more delicious than their cooked rivals and good for you too!! I'm sorry Madame.....could you repeat that please? Cake and chocolate, good for you?? I was ready to jump on that band wagon and jump I did and I am not ready, nor will I ever be ready to jump off for I am enjoying the ride far too much!
The transition from a typical cooked western diet wasn’t that hard for me. I was already what I considered to be healthy. This was due to the fact that I suffered from acne and later acne rosacea. I had already cut out foods which affected the condition. This included dairy (BIG NO NO!), sugar, wheat, any e-numbers or additives and also alcohol. For a normal, sociable 18-19 year old, this was a hard thing to do. However, my mother was a homoeopath and being brought up on alternative medicine, I learnt from an early age that to heal the outside you had to first heal the inside. This made me very aware of what I put into my precious little body. My philosophy is that you wouldn't put petrol into a diesel car, so why put the wrong fuel into your body? A car can be bought or replaced; your body can't, so respect it like a shiny new Beemer! J
I am delighted to say that almost a year down the line on my raw food journey my skin has dramatically improved, and my rosacea has completely disappeared. I no longer rely on hiding behind a wall of make-up. That was a huge thing for me as I would often panic if I couldn’t find my make-up bag in the morning and declare that I wouldn’t go to work unless I found it!
Now, I am more comfortable in my own skin then I have ever been in my life!
