Lightmain, established in 1991, provides products for the Leisure, Engineering and Construction Sectors.
We started life in steel fabrication making highly reliable and durable equipment to work in the hostile underground environment of the mining industry. With the collapse of that industry, Lightmain used these skills to build product to satisfy a growing demand for street and leisure furniture. Since then, in response to customer demand and mainly through recommendation, Lightmain has expanded its’ range to encompass many of the requirements of Local Government and commercial organisations.
Leisure by Lightmain
At the heart of our business we provide a complete service for the design, manufacture and installation (including all ground works) of shelters, cycle storage, street and park furniture, multi-use games area equipment (MUGA’s), skate park equipment, and playground equipment. That is, we provide a one stop solution where we not only design and make the product using British materials with a workforce based in South Yorkshire but we also carry out all of the ground works, installation, warranty and upgrade services.
Innovation & Consultation:
The past 10 years has seen an evolving community consultation process coming to the fore in an endeavour to get it right. Lightmain has always adopted a consultative approach as part of its culture and with its’ UK based fabrication facility it can supply products to almost any specification to satisfy unique requirements.
Playground Safety:
With a trained playground inspector as part of our team we understand the safety aspects of installing equipment, especially in the junior environment, and the danger of finger and head traps. All these issues are safeguarded under EN1176/1177.
Our Workforce
All staff are directly employed by Lightmain and are highly skilled in their field of operation, either time proved or certified Craftsmen.
Quality of our products and Conformity
We produce a range of exceptionally durable products, capable of withstanding the worst excesses of vandalism and weather conditions, but which remain aesthetically pleasing in their design characteristics. Having our own fabrication facility enables us to ensure that the high standards of quality demanded for the delivery of highly durable and vandal proof products are consistently applied. All of our products are made in Britain and meet the standards of conformity for the sector to which they relate.
Top to Toe Service
Lightmain offers a complete service, including design, survey, technical drawings, specifications, all ground works and installation, from conception to completion, working closely with clients and end users to ensure that all needs are catered for in terms of design, size restrictions and budget constraints. As well as our standard product range, we also provide a bespoke service enabling us to provide products, in any quantity, either to our client’s specifications, or designed on behalf of our clients against a requirements list. Some of our larger contracts leading to long term relationships have been borne from small bespoke projects.

Engineering by Lightmain
Our facility in South Yorkshire is one of the largest in the area and is both automated and conveyor driven to be extremely efficient enabling our Engineering Division to offer a comprehensive high quality powder coating service in a range of finishes on a sub-contract basis. We are a true top to toe shop, taking our client’s designs from the page through to the final anti-corrosion treated, powder-coated end product.
Construction by Lightmain
With the natural “marriage” of steel and concrete, we have become increasingly involved in the building sector and now offer architectural detailing products such as lintels, quoins, porticos, etc., in light weight concrete in any quantity either bespoke or on an off the shelf basis.
