Kayos' Biography:

With a birthname Steven Thompson, born may 7th, 1979 into the slums of Pacoima, California. Pacoima is proud present the highly under-rated (underground) rapper, Kayo Luciano! Acquiring the name "Kayo" from the streets, & "Luciano" came from the infamous mobster "Lucky" Luciano. I struggled as an amatuer to find my way in the game, & also to get my lyrics jacked by none other the platinum selling Dr. Dre (Chronic2001). Despite being my first attempt to make a demo, due to not knowing about copyright infringement laws! Besides that, it's been a patient hustle finding myself, & also completing my skills to ready myself for the industry. In the process of developing myself as a well-rounded artist, I also figured out how to not only produce, but also engineer as well! I have only been producing little over a year, & recently started engineering. I am picking it all up accordingly. I have mixed & produced my whole album (studio quality), & still working on more at the moment. All I can say is, sky is the limit, & who knows where the sky actually ends? Aside from rap, I am one of the worlds' most famous poets, have been nominated one of Americas' greatest poets, & also yet to recieve a Shakespeare Trophy for my poetry! I started out as a poet when I was 12 years old. I'd say, that is what naturally sparked the true "rapper" in me. Nobody really noticed my poetry, & my teachers actually didn't believe in me when I'd write poems for class projects, by not giving me the respect & decency, they'd say it was just average, or normal stuff, look at me now! That gave me the drive, the determination to prove, not only to myself, but to the world, I am more than you think I am. "My dreams are challenges, challenges makes you stronger by accomplishing them!"

With Influences from 2pac, Biggie, Big Pun R.i.p., Yukmouth, Ice Cube, etc. You know I cant forget about the R&B side. Tony Toni Tone, Keith Sweat, Marvin Gaye, Luther "Vandross," Prince, Old school Michael Jackson (Thriller Era), Sheila E, man the list goes on & on, but those were still & will remain very influential to me, they are the trendsetters. From just listening to what my G-ma (grandma) would play, to what my parents would, to what we listened to on the radios' currently that moment, I watched music evolve, & was uplifted to get a bunch of different styles, sounds, & genres for some cases, & thats how I make my beats, I use any & every instrument possible known to man, in plus some not even known also!

The "Streets".............I actually was raised by the streets! Natural born hustla. My mom brung me up, but growing up with separated parents never helped. Without a father figure "always" around, it was a crazy job avoiding being affilliated with gangs, but I managed! I seen it all, done mostly all I wanted while I had the chances.. Now where I get my name from. Kayo, is typically what it says, im not afraid to knock some one out if I have to. Luciano, that's a lil more deep. I got this name from the late great mobster "Lucky" Luciano. We led similar lifestyles, so it was only right I show respect. For example, (Lucky) had two sides to chose from (similar to bloods in crips) he chose not to (as I did) & ends up on top from not succumbing to that lifestyle. It's like your born into some irreversible stuff. A cycle that will never change, but only worsen! So to be born in a "hood" where people gangbang, pretty soon their enemies become your enemies (unless you a square) affilliated or not! Another example, if they (gangbangers) come looking for their enemies where you live & they cant find them, but you so happen to be in the vascinity, you gonna get hit up, plain in simple (guilty by suspicion). That's what made me start carrying guns & trying to stay alive, when I seen you don't have to know somebody for them to try to take your head off, or put a slug in you. Bullets have no names, & I would only use guns for protection only! When people try to take "YOUR" life over countless misunderstandings, you will know how it feels to say you had enough, & start packin' heats, or say goodbye to all your loved ones early! That's where Pakoima Mob came from. We may sound like a gang, but we are far from it. It's a fine selection of G's (about a handful) from the hood, that weren't involved in the gang life really, but we knew eachother, & knew none of us would EVA tell on the other, no matter the cause! Death before dishonor..........To my dudes locked up for life, I carry you with me through every moment, broke or rich!
