Thinking Through History

Thinking Through HistoryThinking Through History
By Peter Fisher

When teachers use this resource, the history curriculum becomes a vehicle for the teaching of thinking skills. Thinking skills strategies will help pupils to understand history and support the teaching of thinking across the humanities when combined with similar work in geography and religious education. As with other books in the series, there are exemplars showing how teachers taught the lessons with their own classes.

This series, edited by David Leat, has been developed collaboratively with the North East Thinking Skills Network. Using tried and tested strategies, the books bring thinking skills into the National Curriculum. They have been successful and popular with teachers because the strategies they provide fit easily into existing schemes of work and don't require special training. However, with skilled use, the lessons can lead on to complex thinking, focused collaboration and rewarding discussion. All titles in the series provide case studies of how the strategies were used and adapted by practising teachers.
