Thinking Skills Through Science
Thinking Skills Through Science By Sue Duncan, Don McNiven and Chris Savory
This book is a good introduction to strategies for thinking and learning skills in science. It has been carefully constructed to link with the Science Strand of the Key Stage 3 Strategy. It comes with a CD-rom containing copies of all pupil sheets, teacher sheets, spreadsheet files and charts referred to in the exemplars. Purchase of the book gives you the right to use these in your school.
This series, edited by David Leat, has been developed collaboratively with the North East Thinking Skills Network. Using tried and tested strategies, the books bring thinking skills into the National Curriculum. They have been successful and popular with teachers because the strategies they provide fit easily into existing schemes of work and don't require special training. However, with skilled use, the lessons can lead on to complex thinking, focused collaboration and rewarding discussion. All titles in the series provide case studies of how the strategies were used and adapted by practising teachers.
