This book provides more examples of strategies to raise the achievement of pupils and improve the quality of their thinking in geography. As in the first Thinking Through Geography book, the strategies are able to stimulate the linking of thinking skills to work in other subjects.
This series, edited by David Leat, has been developed collaboratively with the North East Thinking Skills Network. Using tried and tested strategies, the books bring thinking skills into the National Curriculum. They have been successful and popular with teachers because the strategies they provide fit easily into existing schemes of work and don't require special training. However, with skilled use, the lessons can lead on to complex thinking, focused collaboration and rewarding discussion. All titles in the series provide case studies of how the strategies were used and adapted by practising teachers.
