This resource has been specifically developed to aid understanding of how children learn to read, and, therefore, looks at readers in action.
The video features children with a wide range of reading behaviours: from children in Reception just finding their way through a book, to secondary pupils requiring appropriate support and encouragement to continue developing their literacy skills.
Included are a video and support notes for use by teachers, classroom assistants, parents and volunteer helpers – in fact, anyone who is interested in learning more about how children read. This is a resource which will stimulate discussion, develop observation skills and provide real opportunities for considering how we can encourage and support developing readers.
