The House of The Butterfly has been set up to support the  thousands of children of Bulgaria living in the many orphanages to be found throughout the country. Most of the children have never known what it is to live in a family, to be cuddled, cherished and nurtured with a future to look forward to. Great efforts have been made in the past 10 years to improve the qualitiy of the childrens lives, but lack of resources means that in reality there is the bare minimum of comfort and quality of life. There is an urgent need to upgrade the premises, provide essential school books and equipment, and good quality training for the staff of the Institutions.

Several international agencies are working in the field, and providing practical and emotional help and The House of The Butterfly works closely with them to meet some of the needs. Many of the children never leave the Orphanages, and during the School holidays are stranded without their friends or peers who may go away, or live too far away to visit without transport.

SPONSORS ARE URGENTLY NEEDED to take a personal interest in the children by making a regular monthly donation. This will be used for the benefit of YOUR child, and  you will receive letters and news of their progress.  It might even be possible for you to visit the child in Bulgaria and share some real contact time together.

VOLUNTEERS  are also needed with practical skills to work directly  with the children during their holidays. Committed practical and caring people of any age are welcome to contact us for further information. Interest in Gardening, Cooking, Animals, Driving,  Fund Raising,  and the Expressive Arts are all of great value.
