Green Policy

Wood is the heart of all Elan Ski and Snowboards. It's performance is superior to any other material available to mankind.

Cutting down trees means reducing the power of nature to convert carbondyoxide into oxygen. Increasing the warming effect, shortening the winter time and reducing the level of snow that falls.

Although people have been using trees for thousands of years, they used to be cut in a much smarter way, this is no longer the case, with mass deforrestation a global problem.

The region of the Slovenian Alps where Elan's products are made is one of the most preserved forrest habitats in the world, it is also the 2nd largest forrest habitat in the world, home to a lot of wood that has to be managed correctly.

This is why Elan take a lot of care over how all the trees are cut for their wood cores. Here are some of the things they are doing to keep this delicate infrastructure intact:

  • All Elan wood suppliers are certified by the Interational Forrestal Stewardship Council
  • The trees used by Elan are all replanted according to strict national programs financed by an Ecological taxing policy resulting in increased forrest capacity.
  • Elan's wood core production corresponds to one of the highest ecological standards on the planet - ISO 14001
