Furniture Resource Centre

 

Furniture Resource Centre is a social business, our aims are broadly ‘to alleviate poverty through the provision of furniture to those who cannot afford to buy these items’ and ‘the recruitment and training of long term unemployed people’. We do goods things, running businesses that promote equality and create livelihoods for people who really need them. We seek to achieve social, environmental and financial benefits by operating a viable social business.

Founded in 1988 we have grown from being a small community based response to poverty in inner city Liverpool to being today one of Britain's best known social businesses turning over millions of pounds. We are keen to share our learning and as an awarding winning social business we help to shape national debates about regeneration, the social economy and the intermediate labour market.

Furniture Resource Centre

The core business of the organisation is to provide furniture and white goods as a part solution to community regeneration issues and to meet the needs of the socially and economically excluded.  We have been instrumental in working in partnership with a number of local authorities and Housing Associations to formulate their strategies for supported and sheltered accommodation and to provide furniture and white goods to Supported Schemes, Sheltered Housing and communal accommodation.  We have real commitment to non-financial agendas.
