Fire Risk Assessments

Change in the law

As you may or may not be aware, the regulatory reform (fire safety) order 2005 became law from 1st October 2006.

In order to remain competitive today, businesses must be able to concentrate on their core activities whilst meeting their legal obligations to continuously grow.

Fire Cover Ltd can provide, on request, one of our fire safety consultants to attend site to offer the relevant advice or assistance with regards to your Fire Risk Assessment.  Our experience has shown that many Company's are not sure of how to carry out a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment for their premises and have found our professional service in this area invaluable.

At your request, we will audit your Fire Safety Management Policy, which includes checking, your means of escape policy, fire protection equipment suitability and serviceability, emergency lighting system, fire detection and alarm system, contractor maintenance policy, fire safety signage and Portable Appliance Testing (P.A.T) policy.

With your input we will also audit your Fire Safety Training Policy, such as the training of personnel, fire wardens, new staff, general staff, specific staff, contractors and visitors, flammable substances, combustible materials and waste, interior furnishings, heating and electrical appliances, other sources of heat, lighting, smoking, deliberate or suspicious ignition, occupancy profile, persons at risk and escape.

Afterwards, we will then produce and present a report detailing any significant findings we have identified during the fire safety audit and more importantly, give recommendations to rectify any issues that arise. Once all recommendations have been actioned, we will issue a Fire Certificate of Inspection.

It is often assumed that insurance will cover any financial losses, so we would strongly recommend that you liase with your insurance company to ensure that in the event of a claim, you will be fully covered.  If you have not completed a suitable Fire Risk Assessment and are not in possession of the relevent documentation, this may cause complications if you need to claim.

If you require any further assistance on the above mentioned, please do not hesitate to contact Fire Cover Ltd, where we will be happy to advise.
