Colman was brought back to the Columbia stiduo for the first time since Lost Horizon to play Lightcap, a leading lawyer who has taken residence for the summer in Nora's house. Grant, rising to greatness in the early part of his career, plays an outspoken factory worker who has been falsely acused of arson, who is being hidden by Nora in her house while he tries to clear his name. Laughter ensures as she tries in vain to hide her new houseguest, but everntually the lawyer discovers the truth, and offers to help to find the real culprits. As Grant comes closer to discovering the truth, both men come to realise they are both in love with their landlady - but who has captured her heart?
