As Stated on the Sleeve:
THE LAST ROUNDUP: There are maybe 40,000 Asian elephants left in India, Sri Lanka, the far East and South-East Asia. But that number is fast diminishing due to over population and deforestation. Within a lifetime the species might disappear from the wild. Cameraman Dieter Plage was privileged to take part in the last round up of the elephants before they are trained to work in forestry in Assam. The film's spectacular climax takes place in the Perahera, part of the ancient Sri Lankan city Kandy. The torchlight procession of 100 elephants through the streets symbolises the importance of the elephant in the religious and cultural life of Asia
THE LAST KINGDOM OF THE ELEPHANTS: 7,000 elephants live in the remote Luangwa Valley in Zambia, one of the few remaining unspoiled wildlife sacutaries left in Africa. Here elephants have adapted to severe weather - where the year - round cycle brings massive rains and floods followed by long periods of drought and death
