The East Sussex School of EnglishBrighton and Hove on the sunny south Coast are internationally known holiday resorts which offer numerous attractions: safe sea-bathing, attractive promenade with pubs and cafes, beautiful parks, excellent shops, discos and restaurants. An important centre of culture and history, there are many museums, cinemas and theatres. London, with its wonderful shops and famous monuments, is only 49 minutes away by train.The ESSE has been inspected and recognised as efficient by the British Council. It is open to participants of all nationalities and ages. (Juniors 12 to 16 years; Adults from 17 years.)English lessons are held at six different levels from elementary to university grade. All our teachers are qualified and experienced in teaching English as a foreign language, and are helpful and patient. They use special techniques to encourage maximum spoken work in class.Classes are small (usually 8 to 10, with a maximum of 12, of mixed nationalities.) The syllabus includes conversation, pronunciation, listening comprehension, free composition, word study and grammar practice, using the grammar and vocabulary of modern Britain.. General course: 16 lessons weekly. Intensive course: 20 lessons weekly.The school is a happy place, relaxed and friendly and you have a wonderful opportunity of meeing interesting people from different countries. Even if you come alone, you will soon find many new friends. The best way to learn English is in a happy atmosphere!A very attractive programme of excursions, cultural visits, social activities and sports is provided as part of the course. There is a whole-day excursion each week to such places as London, Windsor, Oxford, Stonehenge, etc. The daily programme includes cultural and social activities such as visits to the Royal Pavilion, museums, bowling, concerts and discos. Sports include basketball and swimming.You will stay with an English family chosen for their kindness and hospitality, and usually situated near the school. The accommodation includes three meals a day (full board). The accomodation is in twin rooms shared with another student, although single rooms are available on payment of a supplement. During your stay you will be treated as one of the family. In order that you get the maximum opportunity to practice your English, we guarantee that there will be no other students speaking the same language in the house (unless two friends ask to be together).
