About us.....Defensive Driver Training Limited was formed in 1989 since when we have trained more than 70,000 drivers for over 1000 companies, local authorities, government departments and public sector bodies throughout the UK and Ireland. We are a BS EN ISO 9001:2000 Registered Company. Our range of courses covers car, van, mini bus PCV, LGV drivers and specialist vehicle courses particularly for local authorities.
Our Instructors……. come from a variety of backgrounds including the Police and Fire Service. All are Department of Transport Approved Driving Instructors (ADI) and are registered as Fleet Trainers with the Driving Standards Agency. Many have advanced driving qualifications and have taken the RoSPA Diploma in Driving Instruction and the Department of Transport Cardington A test. Above all they are good communicators with the ability to pitch the training at a level that will help the individual driver to develop their own skills and safety.
Training Locations ……….Courses can be held at any location in the UK or Republic of Ireland and most clients choose their own premises as a training venue. If we are running a theory session, which we would recommend, we need a suitable training room capable of seating the delegates. We can provide all audiovisual equipment if you do not have it on site. For the on road training we need the appropriate vehicles which should be insured for our instructor to drive.
If your drivers are dispersed around the country we can book suitable low cost training rooms on your behalf and you are also welcome to use our training facilities in Stourbridge which is just 10 minutes from the M5 motorway.
Fleet Audits ..............The most successful driver training programmes that we run are a reflection of senior management’s commitment to a long term risk management programme. We can help you to conduct an audit of your fleet to ensure that you comply with the latest HSE Guidelines. The audit covers recruitment procedures, vehicle specifications, methods of working, defect reporting, accident investigation and data analysis, stress management and health and safety management systems.
On-Line Driver Risk Assessments ……….can be a low cost way of identifying those drivers who are in need of further training. The web based assessment last just 45 minutes and is managed by Risk Mapping On-Line, an independent company. Cost effective programmes................. Once you have decided that driver training has a part to play in your risk management strategy, we will advise you on the most cost effective programme that will maximise your budget and minimise your drivers’ downtime. Course formats can be varied so that high-risk drivers receive more intensive training than low risk drivers. We also have cost effective solutions to the problem of high staff turnover.
