Cheltenham Community Transport

Cheltenham Community Transport provides accessible door-to-door transport for elderly (over 75), frail and disabled people, living in the Cheltenham area who are unable to access public transport.

Our service helps them maintain their independence and involvement in the local community. Without it many of our users would be housebound and isolated, unable to do their own shopping, visit friends or community centres or access essential health care facilities. Cheltenham Community Transport aims to help combat social isolation and increase the quality of life for elderly, frail and disabled people by providing an accessible means of transport.

Day-to-Day Activities

We currently have over 900 registered members. During the last two years we have carried out more than 67,325 journeys - a total of over 136,000 miles!

Other Services Provided:

Groups – CCT operates two minibuses, which are loaned out to organisations for a small donation. These buses are driven by the organisations own volunteer drivers, all of who have received the appropriate MIDAS training from CCT.

Special Trips – CCT organises special minibus trips to different events i.e. Christmas shopping to Bourton on the Water, Carol services in Cheltenham. Local clubs can use our wheelchair accessible vehicles for such  ‘trips out’, with a CCT paid driver, for the day.

MiDAS Training – CCT provide MiDAS minibus driver training for local clubs and organisations (as well as for some statutory agencies).

Out of Area Journeys – Although we are strictly funded to cover Cheltenham District we do provide journeys out of area upon request (via our Volunteer Car Drivers). These are costed out individually and invoiced accordingly.

Local Clubs – CCT provide a number of local regular clubs with transport for their meetings.

Gloucestershire Minibus Scheme (GMS) – CCT are members of GMS, which is a minibus brokerage scheme that aims to maximise the use of underused minibuses across the county by making them available to community organisations.
