The Challenge
As well as the run-up to the 2012 Olympics, building and regeneration is going on across the whole region, including schools refurbishment, new town centres and the Thames Gateway developments. Put this in the context of the modernisation of procurement that is sweeping through the public sector and it is clear that as a local business, you can expect to face a challenging future. You need to respond to these changes, or you may not survive.
Over the past 2-3 years, the London Borough of Newham has been helping local companies who want to adopt e-trading. The scheme, managed by Imaginist, with the e-commerce technology provided by @UK PLC, has been picked up by over 150 companies, many of which have changed the way they do business and are now trading electronically. Others are using their interactive websites to attract enquiries and respond to requests for quotations.
Now this scheme has been incorporated into a new Newham Business Legacy Initiative, pulling together business advice from the East London Small Business Centre, supply chain advice and training from SupplyNewham and e-commerce from us: Business Online.
